Privacy

Looking for food is nobody's business but yours. This site is built so that reading it leaves no trace with us.

Reading the directory

Your location

If you press “Use my location”, your browser asks your permission and gives the position to the page in your browser only. We use it to sort the list and centre the map. It is never sent to our servers, never stored, and never put in the address bar. Choosing a town from the list works without sharing any location.

Visitor reports

When you report what you found at a location, we store:

We do not store your IP address. A spam check (Cloudflare Turnstile) runs when you submit; it is Cloudflare's service and subject to their privacy policy.

A volunteer reads each report. Only aggregate counts of approved reports are ever shown publicly (“confirmed by 4 visitors in the last 90 days”). Your note and email are never published. Your email is deleted 30 days after the report is reviewed, or sooner on request.

Provider information

Listings contain the business contact details providers publish themselves — addresses, phone numbers, websites, public Facebook pages. If you run a listed organisation and want a detail changed or removed, use the contact form and choose “I'm with one of these organizations” — those go to the top of the queue.

Messages you send us

When you use the contact form, we store the category you chose, what you wrote, and whichever of these you filled in: your name, email address, phone number, the listing your message is about, and the details of a resource you are suggesting.

A copy is emailed to the volunteer who reads the queue, so that a message is not missed. As with reports, we do not store your IP address, and the same Cloudflare Turnstile spam check applies.

Your name, email and phone number are used only to follow up on your message and are deleted 90 days later — longer than the 30 days for a visit report, because checking a suggestion or confirming a change with a provider can take several weeks. Nothing you send is published as written.

Contact

To have a report, a message or an email address removed, use the contact form and choose “Remove my report”, or write to contact@feedshelbyal.org. We delete it and write back to confirm. This is a volunteer public-service project; please allow a few days.
